How Far from Old Street Tube Station is it? 5 minutes. Turn left out of the station and walk down Old Street. Go straight on and take the third turning on your right - Shoreditch High Street. Cargo is just up the road on your right.
From Liverpool Street turn left and walk down Moorsgate, which turns into Shoreditch High Street. Keep going for five minutes and it is on the left. Is there a cloakroom? Yes, on your right as you walk through the doors. Should I get there early? No real need for a rush. Best to head into the main room before the headliners come on though, as it can get busy in there. Its a nice bar to have a few drinks in anyway so it's a decent place to kill time or wait to meet friends.
Anywhere to eat nearby? Cargo itself offers excellent Mexican food until 10pm every night.

Venue Guide Cargo London Information
 Cargo is located in the heart of Banksy-strewn Shoreditch. In fact the club is something of a focal point for local graffiti, having held exhibitions and with its original brick walls being daubed with some fine works of art including a Banksy. The venue is more famous for its club and DJ nights but occassionally puts on cutting edge live acts.
Entering from a side street underneath a bridge off Shoreditch High Street you approach a foyer area with a cloakroom on the right and toilets upstairs to the right. Venturing further inside you reach the central bar area, which is all arches, exposed brickwork, pipes and air vents. The large bar is averagely priced, and opposite the bar is a door to a decent-sized courtyard area. There are plenty of nice benches and fallen trees to sit on and this area is great in the summer months. The Street food Cafe is also worth mentioning, the South American dishes are excellent.
Returning inside, bands play in the cellar-like back room which you reach by walking through the bar underneath another archway. This room resembles Liverpool's Cavern Club and there is a small stage looking out onto a rectangular space with a bar opposite at the back. The sound is good and such is the size of the venue that you are always close to the action. It is wise to take your place in front of the stage in good time before the band you're seeing comes on, as the room can get quite packed and you could end up craning your neck from the adjoining bar to see through the archway.
For a small venue they get some excellent acts playing at Cargo so it is worth keeping your ear to the ground. A fun night out in a stylish venue.
